The Glass Mouse House

Home

I currently keep Mice, Gerbils, Multimammates, Rats, Firebellied toads, a pacman frog, Guppies, Goldfish, Minnows, Zebra fish and my 3 cats keep me!

I'm also an artist, working with glass as my prefered medium. I make stained glass window panels, mirrors, photo frames and decorative small window hangings. But my favourite is making custom built tanks - as this combines both my hobbies of pets and glass! hence the name "glass mouse house".

my tanks gallery page shows photo's of some of the tanks i have built.

but here below is my main and largest tank, home to my female mice.

I like all small furry critters and have kept gerbils for over 15 years though my main focus has been mice for the last 2 years.

With so many animals they do take up a lot of my time, from essential maintenance to just spending the time holding them.

Why spend the time, money and effort on so many pets you may wonder? Well they are an integral part of my life, I consider them part of my family, I have always kept pets and it gives me great pleasure to continue doing so. I enjoy their company and believe all the hard work from so many is well worth the effort - they all have their own unique personalities and are rewarding to interact with.

I like to breed and raise babies from some of my pets as it gives me greater pleasure still watching the babies grow in the nest and become fine young adults. Being a part of their life from cradle to grave is a very special bond. I do not do this on a commercial scale and do not supply pet shops as i like to meet the new owners and them with queries they mau have on how to care for their new pets. Breeding is not to be taken lightly it includes great responsability which requires a lot of time and effort caring for the young and getting them used to being held ready for new owners.

Sometimes i like to exhibit my animals, taking a selection to childrens libraries and youth club events. The events i do aim to teach the children responsable pet ownership, lots of interesting facts and fun about rodents (specifically the animals i take along) and involve a petting session.

For those looking for a new pet please see;

the nursery for babies ready soon.

Most rodents make great pets for children and adults alike! they are intelligent, cheap to keep, dont take up as much space as pets such as cats and dogs, are easy to care for and tame to handle - they just need a little bit of love and patience.
